The current Government plans to find solutions for the people of Vanuatu to fully depend on their own agricultural resources for money earning in local and international market to develop their own country.
As the land was the main reason for indigenous leaders in the New Hebrides to struggle for the independence of their country, the Government led by VP President Bob Loughman is committed in many plans to develop the agriculture sector.
As he was addressing the nation during the 40th Independence Anniversary, Prime Minister Loughman said, “It is the duty of the Government to find the solution of the problem the people of Vanuatu are facing.”
“As we own land in our country, we will build our nation with our own resources so our country will prosper in the next 40 years,” PM told thousands of people assembled at Independence Park on 30 July.
He said his Government will inject Vt3 billion into the Rural Development Bank that will replace Vanuatu Agriculture Development Bank to facilitate payable long term loans to Ni-Vanuatu farmers.
Once this plan is fulfilled, people living in rural areas will no longer come to town to find jobs and youth living in town without job but have land on their island will be encouraged to work on their land to earn money.
