The Health Expo was opened today morning at Seafront in Port Vila for full day.
The health authorities are organizing the event to educate and inform people about the practices that bring good and bad health within families and Vanuatu Society.
A woman who travels around the word with his husband by their sailing boat made her brief presentation this morning on how she saw people on the islands changing their diets and habits of eating. She said Vanuatu has to take strong measures in food control as the imported goods have changed the life of its people.
She went on to say she saw on many islands she visited retail shops selling imported goods and what worries her is how people from the island chose to eat imported food rather than local one which is more healthy.
“We must know that food imported contain some amount of things that can cause sick to regular consumers,” she said.
She claimed that Vetsin is another food which cause asthma, headache and even brain damages.
“For children who are fed with noodles I saw in many places, Vetsin can damage their brain and when the brain is destroyed, children cannot study well because of the brain. The future of this country depends on these children. A pregnant women who eats noodles with Vestin will have her baby’s brain affected from whole his or her life,” the visitor said.
