Effective from 1st February 2019, all Air Vanuatu domestic customers including children and infant must present an ID photo at check-in before they will be authorized to board plane to go to any island within Vanuatu.
It will be the first time the national airline will introduce this system for identification on passengers travelling through all domestic flights.
This means if an adult, man or woman, youth, children and infant has his or her ticket to travel from an island to another by plane, while at any airport in the country for departure, he or she has to present his or her ticket at departure desk with an ID photo.
This measure is taken by Air Vanuatu to avoid problem such as fake ID and also to control the movement of the people in the country, especially by air.
The introduction of ID photo will be another burden for parents whose children will travel from an island to another when school starts next month, especially those who have financial difficulty and do not have ID photo.
