The minister for Internal Affairs Andrew Napuat announced last week his intention to take action against the Penama Provincial Council following some irregularities being spotted during the two first years of mandate of the current members of the council.
The decision planned to be taken by the minister is the suspension of the provincial council based on an investigation being carried out by an audit team last month who revealed some irregularities on the running of the council.
The minister said last week that among many reasons leading to the sanction is misuse and misappropriation of funds within the provincial council.
