The Papua New Guinean Prime Minister is calling on all Melanesian countries to work together in achieving our common goals.
Peter O’Neill stressed on this message while addressing Fijian Parliamentarians in Suva, FBC reports.
O’Neill says while the Melanesian countries are small in numbers compared to the rest of the world, we are stronger working together.
He adds there are many global issues which affect the Pacific to which we have no control, however, working together can make a difference.
“We as Melanesian and Pacific Island Nations, must work together – simply by getting on and doing what is best for our own countries and also for the region. It is therefore important that we continue to build a strong bond in our two countries and of course in our regional and sub-regional organizations.”
O’Neill also expressed PNG’s interest in furthering trade and investment relationships.
He adds businesses from both countries are investing in tourism, banks and agriculture, and PNG wishes to strengthen this.
