A financing agreement for the construction of the future Vanuatu National University will be signed this Thursday between the Government of New Caledonia and the French Development Agency, according to the report by New Caledonian Lepetitjournal.

This signature will be in the presence of Louis Arsac, Counselor for Cooperation and Cultural Action at the French Embassy in Port Vila.

Last December, the government of New Caledonia received a grant of 83.5 million French francs (around US$15.5 million) from the French Development Agency. This funding, from the FICOL (Financing Facility for French Local Authorities), enabled the New Caledonia government to strengthen its presence in Vanuatu by participating in the partial financing of its future national university, especially the premises dedicated to bilingual channels.
