Govind Park in Ba, Fiji will be the newest international stadium capable of hosting international football and rugby fixtures.

A $4.12 million revamp of the stadium is underway and will add a new 8,000-seat grandstand to the home of Ba FC, Oceania FC reports.

Once complete in seven months it will be capable of hosting Fiji international games due to the major upgrades to facilities.

New features include a medical room, a room for referees, a canteen and a conference room capable of hosting 200 delegates. Squash courts, four changing rooms and gym facilities are all part of the plans.

The news comes after the ground suffered from major damage during Topical Cyclone Winston in 2016. It was opened in 1976 and the upgrade has been secured thanks to grants from Ba Town Council.

The upgrade to the stadium will be good news for Ba FC. The Men in Black will be competing in the Oceania Champions League in February and will be sure to fill the stand for league fixtures next year.

Ba are traditionally one of the bigger clubs in Fiji but lost the title to Lautoka FC last season.
