Tropical Cyclone Fehi: heavy rainfalls and possible flooding

According to the new report from the Vanuatu Meteorology and Geo-Hazards Department today, January 30, Tropical Cyclone FEHI was located about 670 km west southwest of Tanna.

The system is moving southeast at 22 km/hr. Winds close to the center estimated at 75km/hr with gusts up to 95km/hr.

Heavy rainfalls are expected throughout the Vanuatu group tonight and continuing tomorrow. A severe weather warning for heavy rainfalls and possible flooding over low lying areas and areas close to the river banks, and a marine wind warning over all open waters of the Vanuatu group have been issued.

The National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) advises people to take extra precautions.
