The Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and External Trade, Bruno Leingkone and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Kang Kyung-wha signed a Diplomatic Visa Waiver Agreement between Vanuatu and the Republic of Korea on December 5, 2017 during a bilateral meeting held on the margins of the 3rd Korea – Pacific Island’s Forum Foreign Ministers meeting which was held in Seoul from 4 – 7 December, 2017.
The Agreement on Mutual Exemption for holders of Diplomatic and Official Passports will exempt diplomatic and official passports holders from both countries from visa requirements for visits up to 90 days to the other country.
This development marks a new step in strengthening of bilateral relations between Vanuatu and Korea.
The Minister shares his satisfaction in the way relations have progressed over years and highlighted that opportunities exist to boost relations.
Both Ministers exchanged views on important bilateral issues with the prospect of strengthening cooperation in the different areas of common interest including trade and investment, tourism, climate change, renewable energy, health, infrastructure development and human resource capacity building.
Amongst the issues discussed the Minister expressed Vanuatu’s readiness to continue to engage with Korea in strengthening cooperation into the future.
