The Annual General Assembly of the Pacific Games Council – PGC – have ratified the decision made by the Executive board of PGC to officially approve Samoa as the next host of Pacific Games.
The official declaration was made on December 10, 2017 in Port Vila, during the Pacific Mini Games, where PGC usually convened on Sunday, which was the Athletes’ Rest day of the Games.
PGC Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Minogue said that the PGC general assembly has formally declared that Samoa will be the next host of the Pacific Games in 2019, after the decision made by the PGC executive board in September 2017.
“The 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa will take place from July 6 to 20, and there will be 26 Sports disciplines all together, for nations to compete in”.
He also added that on the meeting’s agenda, there was an opportunity for countries to submit their expression of interest to bid for the Pacific Mini Games in 20.
“In the General Assembly in Port Vila, two countries have expressed their interests, Niue and American Samoa. They have to submit their bid to PGC in February 2018, for the 2025 Pacific Mini Games” stated Mr Minogue.
