A Sunday school program in Vanuatu is hoping to tackle attitudes and behaviours that can lead to gender-based violence.
Run by World Vision, “Gudfala Laef” will reach more than a thousand children across Port Vila and includes activities that focus on gender equality, respect for women, and anti-violence, reports Pacific Beat.
Community Development Facilitator Joyce Napuat was one of the first to pilot the program last year. After she faced discrimination growing up in her village, Joyce is now an advocate for gender equality and people with disabilities.
She said that Gudfala Laef is helping to make sure that both girls and boys grow up to be good role models for their families.
