Minister of Internal Affairs, Alfred Maoh, the Australian High Commissioner, Jenny Da Rin, and the Commissioner of Police, Albert Nalpini, officially opened three renovated police houses in Port Vila.
The Australian Government supported the renovation of the three police houses through the Vanuatu – Australia Tropical Cyclone Pam Recovery Program. In total, 21 police houses will be repaired and renovated, of which seven are in Port Vila and 14 on Tanna.
“The houses are part of a broader program to repair 63 public buildings that are being built back better and stronger,” said Australian High Commissioner, Jenny Da Rin.
“The renovations, managed by the Government through the Public Work Department and completed by local contractors, are supporting local businesses and communities, creating jobs and building the economy,” Da Rin added.
The total value of the police housing project is 102 million vatu.
