Disaster authorities on Santo are already looking at medium to long term plans for evacuees from neighbouring Ambae Island in Vanuatu, where there is still the danger of the Manaro volcano erupting.

The acting Secretary-General of Sanma Province, Prosper Buletare, is commander of the disaster response on Santo, where 8,000 Ambae Islanders are now living in the capital, Luganville, reports Pacific Beat.

According to Buletare, all the evacuees from Ambae have been given shelter and the focus has shifted to making them comfortable, possibly for the next few months.
