Upd 25.09.17: Government: funding wasn’t deciding factor in selecting delegation for COP23 climate talks

The private sector delegation from Vanuatu that will represent the country at COP23 in Germany next month is going to be a lot smaller than anticipated.

Only two of the ten names submitted to the Ministry of Climate Change in Port Vila have been approved, apparently because there is no funding available to send anyone else, reports Pacific Beat.

Ministry Advisor, Glen Craig, is now one of a select duo who will be heading to Bonn for the latest UN climate talks, with the other delegate being Dr Chris Bartlett from the National Disaster Management Office.

With the summit being chaired by Fiji, Mr Craig says Vanuatu is not making the most of the best chance yet for the Pacific islands to advocate for funding.
