Vanuatu will be one of the Pacific countries participating for the first time in the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) to be held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, from 17 to 27 September.
This was made possible through a Memorandum signed by the President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, with OCA President, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah; ONOC President, Dr Robin Mitchell and Chairman of the AIMAG 2017 Executive Committee, Dayanch Gulgeldiyev.
Athletes from 17 nations and seven Associate Members in Pacific region will participate in the event for the very first time.
Vanuatu will participate in Athletics, Taekwondo and Tennis.
Team Vanuatu makes up total of 19 persons, 13 Athletes and 4 Officials. VASANOC President and Secretary General will join the team later for the Opening Ceremony and return early.
The Team has left Vila on Monday, September 11th, and returns on 1st October. It will be lead by VASANOC CEO and Team Chef De Mission, Henry Tavoa.
