Since Bong Kalo had signed his first professional contract in Europe we haven’t seen Vanuatu Football Federation (VFF) coming out to congratulate the player for his breakthrough.

Kalo is there as an ambassador for VFF and every local player from the Torba Football Association to Tafea Football Association. In his Facebook post player noted he will be representing all local players from Vanuatu while staying in Europe.

It’s surprising to see that the federation, represented by Kalo overseas in Europe, has not come out to publicly acknowledge the fact that Vanuatu has now a professional player making a career in Europe.

Maybe they will address him later. But it is sad to see that, while his club, family and friends have had been with Kalo in every way possible, helping him every step of the way until his contract with FC Ascona, the people whom Kalo is representing haven’t come out to show their support publicly.

Kalo, whose name is in the Pacific Mini Games pre squad for Vanuatu, told us he hasn’t decided yet on whether he will come back to join the national team in December.

As we reported last week, Vanuatu u20 captain was signed by FC Ascona from Switzerland until June 30, 2018. FC Ascona plays in Swiss 2. Liga Interregional, which is the fifth tier of the Swiss football league system. From 2000 to 2012, it was the country’s fourth level. The division is split into 6 groups of 14 teams, by geographical region.
