The buildings use some traditional materials and designs, but are built to be extremely sturdy and able to stand up to cyclone weather conditions, New Zealand High Commission reports.

According to the statement by NZHC, the market houses bring a real traditional feel to the modern waterfront, and provide an ideal place for the hardworking mamas to take their businesses selling locally made products to the next level.
