The National Parliament has just elected the new Prime Minister for the Republic of Vanuatu.
He is Bob Loughman, the re-elected MP for Tanna Constituency and the President of Vanua’aku Party (VP).
Thirty two MPs casted their votes in favour of the candidate of the bloc formed by VP, UMP, NUP and small other political parties while twenty two were in favour of GJP’s president and outgoing Foreign Minister, Ralph Regenvanu.
The parties in the parliamentary opposition are GJP, RMC and LPV.
The re-elected Gracia Shaddrak who run away from his party, LPV, and joined the group formed by VP and RMC was elected new Speaker unopposed today morning before the Parliament proceeded with the election of the new Prime Minister.
