Prime Minister Charlot Salwai launched this morning the preparations of 40th Anniversary of Independence and 51 Pacific Islands Forum Meeting that will take place in Port Vila from 4 to 7 August this year.
In his speech that was broadcasted Live in Television Blong Vanuatu and on Radio Vanuatu, the leader of the Government urged the six Provincial Councils and the two Municipalities to work together with the Government the make the people throughout Vanuatu be part of the 40th Anniversary Celebrations that will mark many achievements made during the 40 years of Independence.
He assured the people that before leaving the office after the upcoming General Elections, he will make sure the new Government will follow up with some steps being already taken towards the two most important events of this year.
There is a joint committee co-chaired by the DG of PM’s Office Gregoire Nimbtik and Kalvau Kaloris from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to look after the two events.
PM Salwai also announced that there is another event that will take place at the end of this year to mark the graduation of Vanuatu from the category of Least Developed Countries (LDCs) on 4 December 2020.
