The leader of the opposition Ismael Kalsakau did not submit his application to run from new term with the UMP Office in the upcoming general elections.
The president of UMP Port Vila Regional Council, Alick Noel, confirmed on Monday that only three applications were received by his office, coming from Saby Natonga, Tony Iauko and Wendy Himford
The regional president said that Ismael Kalsakau’s name was arisen during the regional congress of his party last Saturday for endorsement “but the problem was that my office did not receive any application coming from the leader of the opposition.”
“As Saby Natonga was the first to submit his application, his name was endorsed and other ones including Ismael Kalsakau to be dealt with by the national congress,” UMP regional president said.
UMP will hopefully approve Ismael Kalsakau to run again as he is becoming the most respected and supported political leader in his struggle to stop what he terms as political malpractices. Photo: The leader of the opposition, Ismael Kalsakau. (Photo: Daily Post)
