Concerned advocate, Brian Tete shared his concerns very recently of the intensifying issues existing through the usage of social media in the country.
The young activist also elaborated more on his disappointment, “on why the people of Vanuatu still lacked the mentality and means to support our homeland, against these disturbing issues of violence.”
As a recent graduate who have completed his Masters Degree in Communication and Media Economists at Marmara University, Nişantaşı Kampus in Istanbul Turkey, his main concern is stressed over the criticisms received whilst conducting his thesis last year in the country.
“Last year, on 2017, I came to Vanuatu to carry out a research based on domestic violence against women and children and the right of education aimed at adolescents in Vanuatu,” said Mr Tete.
“In my research, I focused on how social media is becoming a major trend today, which in turn can lead to violence due to technology advancement.
“Facebook, as the utmost everyday social media, used by almost everyone in the country, helps to broadcast news around the world and even across the islands of Vanuatu.
