The traditional ceremony marking the National Constitution Day on Friday last week may be the last gathering in front of the building which remains the last monument reflecting the colonial era.
The Government has decided that the building be demolished as it is too old for repairs. Being severely damaged during the passage of Category 5 Cyclone Pam in March 2015, the architects who evaluated the damages estimated an amount of hundreds of millions vatus to be budgeted for its repairs. The demolition has been the best option for the national Government.
