Air Vanuatu flight to Fiji has been cancelled today, on Saturday, due to a runway excursion sustained by the plane scheduled for the flight to Nadi, at Bauerfield airport.
In official statement Air Vanuatu reported the incident has occurred at the end of the runway on landing. Neither the pilots nor the passengers on board sustained any injuries.
According to the reports by the passengers, Air Vanuatu refused to provide passengers compensations or refunds citing the company policies.
It is reported the flight was cancelled by Air Vanuatu staff after the order from Civil Aviation Authority Vanuatu (CAAV).
In May 2018 Air Vanuatu announced that the company has achieved a significantly improved profit of VT296 mln for the 2017 financial year, following a profit of VT120 mln in 2016.
“We attribute this success to a lot of hard work, re-establishing our codeshare relationship with Qantas, regaining our IOSA certification and pushing on despite the hardships,” Air Vanuatu’s CEO said.
In June 2018 it was announced that Board of Directors of Air Vanuatu has appointed a new chief executive officer, Mr. Derek Nice.
