A huge casino development in the Northern Marianas is seeking an extension on a government deadline for it to complete the facility on Saipan.

Imperial Pacific International is required to finish the building next month but it wants an extension until December, RNZI reports.

It said it had been delayed by a lack of manpower and other problems.

The Hong Kong-based company’s new contractor, Pacific Rim Contractors, is currently focusing on completing three areas of the project – the hotel, its tower and the exterior of the hotel lobby.

  • As of today 08/18/2018 they are starting to show signs of financial difficulties. Payroll problems. Everyone is questioning when this white elephant is going to fail, and fail it will.

    • John Holmes was correct!! Imperial Pacific International cannot complete this project after receiving many extensions granted to it. The latest extension goes all the way to 2021. In almost all of the articles found on the web, IPI uses the excuse of a shortage of construction workers!! NOT SO. It’s more like a cash flow problem than anything else. Moral of story, be careful when listening to Chinese promises.

  • Rumor on the island is that this project will never be completed. They built it over an ancient Chamorro burial site. Bad juju.
