TE SubCom, a TE Connectivity company, announced that a contract is in force to construct the ICN2 submarine cable project for Vanuatu-based consortium Interchange. The cable will connect Port Vila, Vanuatu and Luganville, Vanuatu to Honiara, Solomon Islands.

The 1,632km cable will provide initial 200G high-capacity access to several landing sites using SL14-A1 cables and Ciena Submarine Line Terminating Equipment (SLTE).

The companies expect the system to be ready for service in the fourth quarter of next year.
