Vanuatu golfer wins title in Fiji

Russell Mitchell from Vanuatu upstaged the local golfers to claim the Asco Motors-sponsored Fiji Senior Golf Association’s (FSGA) 18 holes stableford tournament at the Natadola Bay Championship Course.

Mitchell scored 45 points in the men’s division. Francis Chung was second with 41 points while former Fiji 15s and 7s rep Pio Bosco Tikoisuva was third with 40 points. Manjoor Beg edged Ashok Gounder into fourth spot following a countback after both golfers scored 39 points, Fiji Times reports.

Selina Snellgrove won the women’s division. Snellgrove edged Sulu Brooks on a countback after a tight battle. Both carded 35 points. Ravesi Konrote finished third with 34 points.

Ramesh Gounder, Fipe Rickman, Deepak Tahal and Sarat Naidu won the nearest to the pin prizes.

FSGA Vijay Madhavan thanked Asco Motors’ chief executive officer and director Craig Simms for supporting their event. He said the tournament attracted a record number of entries.
